The Theme's The Thing

All celebrations need a theme.  It doesn't have to be an elaborate or extravagant theme, like King Arthur & The Knights of the Round Table, or The Phantom of the Opera, or a Louis the XIV of France affair with fancy-dress attire and delectable food to match… although those themes do sound wonderful, don't' they?

Your theme can be as easy and as simple as a colour theme.  The hot colours for this coming season are mocha, rhubarb and dark plum.  Just imagine these colours for a wedding, punching up the bouquets, adding a burst of colour to the table decor, or watching the colour swoosh down the aisle on spectacular bridesmaids' dresses.

Two peas in a pod was the theme chosen for a client's first birthday party for their identical twin daughters…and how perfect is that?   What about a Hawaiian luau or beach party theme, a murder mystery or a decades theme (50's, 60's), or even a holiday-based theme.  The ideas for food, decorations, music and thank you favours, even location are endless!  Pirate and cowboy themes are popular birthday themes for young boys, Princess and dress-up themes are loved by young girls.  And animal themes are always a hit no matter what age.

Themes define a celebration and let the guests know just what type of party they've been invited to.  Beginning with the invitation, you can weave a theme into the event with the food, music and entertainment, decorations, floral arrangements, right on through to the thank you favours.  Themes help keep you ‘on track' when it comes to designing the entire event.  If the item doesn't fit the theme, then it's not given a second thought, and that saves time and money!

What theme can we chose, you ask?  It's not that difficult to come up with a theme that fits your personalities and the occasion.  Think about your hobbies (gardening, cooking), your favourite sports (golf, skiing), your favourite books (Harry Potter, Twilight), your favourite movies (The Wizard of Oz, Grease), your favourite place to visit (Egypt, England) or your favourite style of clothes (casual, formal).  Hundreds of ideas have already popped into my head for these themes and that's when the fun begins!

My husband Larry & I chose music as the theme for our wedding day.  Music is very important to both of us, and we wanted that reflected in our special day, subtle yet impactful and meaningful.   We chose invitations that had a white grand piano on them, and we thought that was a perfect start.  Our reception venue had a white grand piano in the main foyer and it was a perfect spot for some great photographs, especially when my husband serenaded me with a song he'd written especially for me on our wedding day.  A moment I'll never forget!

Our wedding cake was spectacular.  Three tiers (all different flavours), all with white fondant, with a dark chocolate grand piano on the top tier!  The other two tiers had dark chocolate musical notes on the top along with our intertwined initials, and around the side of each tier was iced in white the first few bars of our first dance together – understated and elegant, and an important aspect in the overall theme.  And it tasted as good as it looked!

Instead of table numbers, we had table songs, and there was a scroll at each guests' place setting, containing words from that love song.  If they wanted us to kiss, they had to stand up and sing a chorus or verse from their song!  It was such fun for everyone, and provided some great moments on our wedding video!

The thank you favour for our guests was a white chocolate musical note, again carrying the theme throughout the day and letting our guests know we were happy they joined us for our musical journey into marriage.

A theme, no matter what the celebration or budget, is a great opportunity to be uniquely creative with all aspects of the event, and will create lasting memories for those lucky enough to receive an invitation.

Hana Kimi is kinda romantic at times

There is this girl, she cuts off all of her hair and goes to an all boys school to meet this guy who is like a high jump star. hes kinda hot and hes the guy from romantic princess. Jin. They fall in love with each other, but never tell each other. he knows shes a girl but never tells her he knows. There are some really cute parts, but also lots of unreal parts.
