How can I start on redoing my room?

I am wanting a eclectic style room. Kinda like the beachy/laid-back ones on Pottery Barn...somewhat. Like folkish..? For example, I love the Weepies, the band, and singer-songwriters. and I would love my room to kind of reflect that kind of style they portray. Ya know..mellow..and have my room filled with Quirky designs & stuff. Well, anyways, how can I get started on it? I mean, started from very very top. Do I need to clean things out first? What section do I start with? Wall-painting..? This is my first time to start and so I have absoultley no idea. Mom is not much of a helping hand. I'd love to paint my room a soft colour but I need to recognize the style I really want to go after. Maybe someone can help me?

Sure... Here are some ideas for you. Start with your fabric... bedding, drapes, area rug, whatever. Pick what you love, then use that to choose your wall colours and accessories. Once you have that, you can start shopping for bargains. It's interesting that, when you have your theme and colours decided, coordinating stuff will just jump out at you to buy and take home! *lol*

As well, you will find that the very excitement of having a 'vision becoming reality' will prompt you to clean out your room of all the 'stuff' that's got to go to make room for the new stuff, the 'new look', the 'new you'. It's like getting a new lease on life. The 'old' is shedding it's skin, and a fresh new phase of life begins. It's a wonderful feeling... enjoy it! *vbs*

So... the fabric first, but keep it all in the bag as you'll want to paint your walls before hanging draperies/curtains and putting your new bedding on. If you can't afford new furniture, you may just want to paint the furniture you do have. There are endless possbilities.

All this takes TIME. Don't expect to have your room completed in a weekend. As 'time' is a consideration, so is money. I've been in my current home for five years and I'm STILL in the process, *lol*. Room-by-Room on the inside, and all the stuff going on on the outside. I had to wait a year to get the Area Rug I wanted for my Living Room as I just refused to pay full-price, and even sale-price... I waited til it was on 'close-out' at 1/2 the sale price, *lol*, to get it. But that's part of the fun of decorating. Finding what you want, keeping an eye out for a good deal, etc etc.

Depending on what theme you go with, do not discount an Area Rug... they really do 'anchor' the room, bringing all the elements together by giving them a 'foundation' from which to spring forth. If you find a picture of a room you really like, so much the better... just copy the design and make your room just like it!

I need to find a gelly-like bracelet that is an animal shape.....?

Where can you get besides pottery barn kids/pottery barn, a gelly-ish rubber band that stretches? it's in lots of colors like pink and cool blue and yellow etc. when you take it off it look like a certain animal for example, the light blue when you take it off is an elephant. it's not a detailed picture, just the outline of the animal, but you can tell it's that animal..
