Why does my duvet cover seem bigger than my quilt?

i buy king size but when i put the quilt inside there is about 20 cm left. my quilt is 240X220 cm, an di buy king size cover.

Where did you buy it from? Next K/S are way too big - I bought a SK duvet and the thing is too big for that too! i can't alter it because of the aplique - they are doing it in a different colour way this season - don't buy it - it won't fit! Could be an American one because they do have various sizes - we don't, in the UK if you buy KS it should be a standard size. Drives me completely mad, My nephews g/f has also bought from Next and has the same problem - different design. I have never bought duvet covers that don't fit before (and I've bought a fair few over the years)

How do I stop a king size quilt slipping down in the cover?

I used to turn the cover around so the bottom of the cover faced the head of the bed which worked however I have bought one that can not be reversed. Any ideas?
