Duvet Quilt Cover

Are duvet covers the same as quilt covers?

People will interchange the terms because they are very similar but they are not exactly the same.
A duvet is sort of like a giant pillowcase except instead of a pillow, you put your comforter inside of it. It's mainly used to cover goose down comforters to protect them and keep them clean but you can put a quilt inside it too I suppose or a blanket.
Usually when someone says "quilt cover" they are referring to a duvet that looks like a quilt ie, they are quilted. Regular duvets usually look more like two sheets have been sewn together.
Here are examples, the first one is a traditional duvet, the second a quilt cover.
