Down Queen Comforter

When sewing a comforter do you sew into the batting or do you leave it in the middle unattached?

I'm making a queen size comforter for the 1st time. I have my top piece layed out on the floor face down, the batting on top of that, then the back piece on top of the batting and am ready to sew. Do I sew into the middle batting to secure it or no?

I'd sew through all the layers so the batting wouldn't shif around.

After all that work you've done, don't forget to make at least one duvet cover for it, so you won't have to wash the whole comforter as often, and you can change the look of your bed for different seasons!

Where did you buy your down/down alternative comforter? Recommendations?

I'm on the hunt for a good one. I'll probably go with a down alternative because it costs less. I don't want to spend a fortune but was wondering where other people bought theres, whether it was at a particular store, or online, and whether they really like and recommend it, or hate it. Also about how much did you spend? Also I have a queen bed and didn't know if queen size would cut it or if I should go to a king because I like it to hang a fair bit over the sides because I have a thick mattress.

Where you buy it makes no difference. It's the quality, not the retailer.

Northern Nights is an excellent brand, but I found them expensive.

I bought my "Lands End", full, at the end of the season clearance, and got it for $25.
