Which is warmer, silk, cotton or wool duvet/comforter?

In winter, which will keep you warmer?

Wool, for sure. I know this because my mattress has wool fabric on one side for fall/winter and silky/cotton on the other for spring/summer. Mattress mfg is hoping to inspire us to turn our mattresses for even wear.

What is a good blanket for under my duvet?

I am creating a wedding registry and my fiance and I have chosen a bedding set from Target that has a duvet cover. We usually prefer a regular comforter, but like the design so much that we are getting it anyway. What are some ideas for the best blanket to use in the duvet? We don't really like down, and prefer a regular-type of cotton comforter. Cotton comforters work very well and you don't have feathers coming through the duvet
