Cedar Canyon Blue
Have you ever spent a morning in the canyon?
The river sings in its alcoves of stone
I cross the milky water on an old log
Beneath me water striders
Dance in the tangled roots
Sprigs of bare twigs of cedar cling
To tattered pieces of ancient bark
The wind dies down
Blue jays screech in fir trees crowned in mist
The rising sun sneaks up a dark mountinside
Mayflies pirouette in the chill air
My line loops lazily over the cascading stream
Gently landing my offering of fur and feathers
On a green pool at the end of a silvery riffle.
Lovely, descriptive poem. I'm sure the alliteration throughout is intentional. A video could be made of this, with a musical background.
