Why is it good to have more fiber in your diet?

I am always hearing people say they would be more healthy if they had more fiber in their diet.
Is fiber healthy? If so, in what way?

And also in case your first response makes me want to add some fiber to my diet. What has fiber in it?

a few reasons .
1. it's harder for your body to digest so it keeps you fuller longer. which reduces calorie intake.
2. it cleans out your digestive tract which helps prevent diseases like colon cancer.
try black beans, 100% whole wheat bread, oat meal, fruits and vegatables
